The League's successful operation depends upon the commitment of all its parent volunteers.  Effective delegation of the duties of the League to accomplish what is needed for the girls is vital.  The President will need to delegate and monitor all of the League assignments.  Good leadership is critical to the future of the league program.  If the President becomes a team staff member in the regular spring/summer season, the necessary time and energy to devote to leading the league is now split with their team responsibilities.  History has shown that the individual leadership of a good league President is more beneficial to all the girls in the League than the President sharing their duties by becoming involved in just one team.  If a President has a strong desire to coach while holding office, Spring or Fall Super Sox Travelball should be considered.  Travelball only has games bimonthly and the Fall Super Sox season commences in August, after the League's regular season has concluded.    According to the book The Leadership Challenge, by James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner, there are consistent practices and behaviors found in good leadership.  Expressed in terms of a Bobby Sox President:    Bobby Sox leaders take up the challenge.  They search for opportunities.  They look for innovative ways to improve their League.  They realize that taking risks to benefit the girls sometimes involves mistakes and failure.  As Bobby Sox leaders they accept disappointments as learning opportunities.    Bobby Sox leaders inspire a shared vision of league greatness.  They passionately believe that they can help make a difference in the lives of all the girls.  They envision the Bobby Sox future, creating an ideal and unique image of the greatness their League organization can achieve.  Through their strong appeal and persuasion, these leaders enlist others in their Bobby Sox dream.  They breathe life into their visions and enable others to see the League's exciting future possibilities.    Bobby Sox leaders model the way.  They establish strong moral values within the League and demonstrate how the girls, the parents, the League volunteers, and the League members ought to be treated.  They unravel League politics, put up safety signposts, and create special opportunities for victory for each and every volunteer.  Bobby Sox Presidents plan small "wins" for everyone.    Bobby Sox leaders encourage the heart.  To keep hope and determination alive, these leaders recognize every contribution made by others in helping the girls individually improve, grow, and mature as young ladies.  Every team shares equally in the rewards of their efforts.  Leaders celebrate accomplishments, big or little.  Bobby Sox leaders make every girl feel like a champion.
